On April 4, 2005, The Registrar’s Office presented the idea of electronic grading to Faculty Senate. The concept was readily accepted. Since that time, The Registrar’s Office has been exploring methods and options for submitting final grades electronically. The outcome of this exploration is a web-based application created specifically for The University of Arizona to work with our current Student Information System. The new system is called Webroster.

Webroster has three major components:

Class Rosters – Used by instructors to view their class roster(s) throughout the semester and to administratively drop students and assign final grades. (Requires a faculty/staff UA net ID to log on and you must be assigned to one or more courses.) View the tutorial
In order to login to the secure areas of Webroster from a computer that is off campus, you need to establish a virtual private network (VPN) first. This process takes about 5 minutes. The instructions and the free software download are on CCIT's site: https://sitelicense.arizona.edu/vpn/

You need to enable a VPN connection each time you use Webroster from off campus. If you have questions about this process, visit CCIT’s FAQ page. https://sitelicense.arizona.edu/vpn/vpn_installation.html#HowtoEstVPN

Roster Monitor – Used by staff and administrators to quickly see the number of courses being offered and whether the instructor of record has been assigned. Information can be viewed at the college level and the subject level. Roster Monitor will also be used at the end of the semester to see whether instructors have submitted final grades. (Requires a faculty/staff UA net ID to log on.) View the tutorial

Roster Assignment – Used by specific departmental contacts and administrators to assign an instructor of record to a specific course. View the tutorial
